This print is a true intaglio print, and has been etched on a giant sheet of copper. I first covered and cured the sheet of copper with asphaltum, which is a tar-like acid resistant substance. I then carved out my

Image with a needle tool, which exposed the copper. I then dropped the plate in acid, and the acid eats away, or “etches” the exposed lines on the plate. After I was happy with the image, I wipe off the asphaltum, and then are able to ink up the plate with thick ink, buff off, and run through a press with a piece of special cotton printmaking paper that has been soaked in water and blotted off. 

The image is extremely unique, and are limited edition due to the process taking toll on the plate over time.
